Painted Desert, Texas Dall, Black Hawaiian, Corsican, Desert Sand, and Mouflon Sheep
offer the innovative shepherd a source for multiple markets.

FENCELINE and LOT CLEANERS:
Sheep are great at cleaning fencelines and wooded or overgrown lots.  These sheep will
eat more of the weeds that some wool breeds of sheep may leave.  With the slick summer
coats these sheep will be less prone to getting stickers and thorns stuck in their coats, but
may still need to be groomed.  Even when needing groom, it is much easier to be brushing
out thorns and stickers from at most, an undercoat of wool in the winter, then from several
inches of full wool.

LAWN MOWERS:
Have a large lawn?  These sheep will keep your lawn trimmed.  Trees in the area also will
be kept trimmed (watch for tree bark stripping however).  These sheep look great while
doing the lawn mowing for you and will apply "natural" fertilizer as they go!

Private Sales of live lambs for meat: Some consumers may want to purchase lambs directly
from the farm to take immediately to butcher or to finish the lambs out to a certain weight.
Freezer Meat: Other Customers prefer to purchase packages or individual cuts of freezer
meat.
Selling at Auctions for Meat:  Some public auctions will have a high percentage of buyers
who buy to take directly to market or to finish out.  There the prices may be figured at a
certain amount per pound on a group or per head.

PELTS:
Winter pelts are usually the softest.  Pelts can be used for wall hangings, crafts, rugs,
clothing, and soft cushions for hard chairs.   You can tan your own or have professional
tanners process the hides for you.

HORNS:
Horns can be used to make decorations, cane handles, musical horns,
jewelry and buttons.
Powder horns and drinking horns can also be made.

HUNTING PRESERVES:
The Painted Desert, Texas Dall, Black Hawaiian, Desert Sand, and Corsican sheep
originally started on large ranches in Texas.  Mouflons were released from Zoos for
conservation and crossing with more well known wool sheep as well as the Barbados
Blackbelly began.  Excess rams from these crosses were used for hunting.  Left to their
own devices, the rams can quickly "go wild" and can be one of the hardest animals to hunt
in fair chase hunts.  These sheep are becoming recognized for being much more than
prey; however, some breeders take advantage of this particular market area for excess
rams.
